Welcome

Welcome to the “In Search of Water” blog site! Here you will see the chronicled events of the project leading up to the team’s departure from the United States and then daily while the team is in Africa. Feel free to comment on the posts as it is a great encouragement to the team and a great way to share in the experience together.

The Global Gouge!

Ugh! We just discovered that Verizon Wireless will not provide the global data service to us that they provided last year. Last year we were able to update this blog through sending email with a photo attachment. The blog would automatically update a new posting and you all could see what we were up to. Verizon just told us that what cost us about $30 to do last year will cost nearly $20 per email! Obviously we will not be able to spend that kind of money on sending photos to the blog. I am frantically working on changing over from my Droid phone to my old Blackberry phone, that has global capability, so that I can get a text-to-blog feature set up so we can still update the blog by text message.

Though this is not ideal, we will be able to send 160 characters per update at a cost of $.50 per posting. This is way better than $20! You will just have to wait to see the pictures when we come back. We will have a special presentation on the evening of May 2nd at 6:00 PM. I am currently working on a way to get the blog comments sent to me via text message as an incoming text only costs $.10. I'll update you soon as to how the comments will work.

Please continue to pray for these last minute tasks and challenges as we prepare for our Tuesday departure.
