Jessi with a gifted chicken

We are on our way to Kalalayi with a gifted chicken from Johnson Tombe, the headmaster. Jessi is so proud!

I showed Mataya this picture thinking she would immediately love the whole Jessi holding a chicken thing. But no, she instead kept wanting to know if Jessi was wearing high heels with her skirt. After five minutes of trying to explain to a 3 year old why you wouldn't want to wear high heels while working in a remote village in Sudan, I gave up.

I just hope this chicken isn't part of a future dowry...you're worth a cow at least.

Larry Matson here. Doesn't the father get the dowry money for giving up his daughter. They first need to talk with me and get my blessing. They have a long plane flight to do that. Seriously. My prayers and blessings are with our hard working team. What a wonderful experience. Please come home safe

Jessi (and Shane),I am not responsible for any of dad's comments! (Maybe I shouldn't have shown him how to post a comment.)

Also, Jess, I hope this doesn't revive your interest in raising chickens. I remember when you were in Detroit you even had a little "coop" ready in your backyard!! You look Great!! See you in 5 days!!
Love You

Oh...I remember in high school Jessi raised baby ducks in the garage (my mom wasn't to thrilled about that) and the chicken coop in Detroit...who knows what she will come up with next!!

Shane...my dad prefers beef over chicken...just an FYI.

Jessi! I miss you and can't wait to hear all of your adventure stories when you return...and you can hear about how bad my body hurts from CF :) Love you!! Oh, and I am seeing many pics that are slideshow worthy, if you catch my drift ;)

So, is a "gifted" chicken smarter than the other chickens? This one doesn't seem to be, he is being held upside down by the legs.
